As an educator, an advocate, and a progressive community organizer who proudly calls Portland home--I care deeply about our students, families, and education professionals.

We are the experts in how to support student learning, how to ensure inclusive and equitable access to education, and how to provide financial stability for our district.

I believe that for too long our public schools, especially in Zone 2, have lacked a leader who can harness this collective expertise from theory into practice—a leader who can advocate for diverse students and their families, for the conditions necessary to succeed in school, and in life.

Home: Welcome

We are overdue for schools that guarantee any student a promising educational experience, regardless of who they are, or where they come from.

The future of our greater community depends on our district’s ability to meet the educational needs of all students, to provide safer classrooms, and to address the ever-growing threat that economic insecurity poses to our abilities to do so.

That’s why I am running for Portland Public School Board, Zone 2. I am running to lead our district towards a future where equitable student success is a given and not a perennial goal.

I will advocate for working-class families,

for an end to the criminalization of our students,

for sustainable fiscal management,

and for community-centered decision-making.

Over the next few months, stay connected with me, and support with your vote by May 21, 2019.

Restorative Support for Students with High Needs & Decriminalizing Conduct Practices

Restorative student conduct practices that repair harm and help students learn from their mistakes should be prioritized in our practices.

Community-Centered Decision Making

No more decisions should be made at the board table without input from students and the greater community.

Parent, Family, and Guardian Support

Families benefit from investing in the work of parent advocacy groups and nonprofits that provide inclusive social services.

Culturally-Responsive Curriculum

All students need to see themselves reflected in classroom curriculum, so they have equal access to learning.

Retention of Teachers, Administrators, and Staff

Retaining our teachers and staff is pivotal, and that means providing them with adequate professional development, on-boarding support upon hire, and access to resource groups that address their professional needs.

Trauma-Informed Practice

With trauma-informed practice, educational professionals are more equipped to recognize and respond to the needs of students who’ve experienced trauma.

Sustainable Fiscal Management

We need innovative and regenerative streams for revenue and fundraising that  ensure the quality of education in the district is never threatened by a scarcity of resources.
